Fort Buchanan is an Army Base located in the northeast region of Puerto Rico near Guaynabo Municipality. It serves over 130,000 military personnel, veterans, and civilians and mostly provides needed services to those personnel who need any number of support facilities. According to the base, its mission is to “provide standardized services and sustainable infrastructure in support of the Armed Forces and the diverse Fort Buchanan community.”

Classified as a tropical rainforest, the average temperature in Puerto Rico is about 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Typically the temperature never drops lower than 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Housing and Lodging at Fort Buchanan

Things to Do
Because of this base being located on an island, much of this category relies on maritime and beach activities. Nearby is the Parque Forestal La Marquesa which has a great deal of natural scenery and is advertised as fun for the whole family. Admission is three dollars for children and seniors while adult admission is $6. The Bacardi Rum Factory is only a 15-minute ride from base where tours and tastings are given to visitors. Hurricane’s Irma and Maria have had devastating impacts on the island, destroying many of its nature scenes including the local botanical garden.
